The Humiliating “Wake-Up Call”
For 29-year-old content creator Liliana Lerch, the turning point in her lifelong struggle with weight came during a birthday skydiving trip. Weighing in at 240 pounds, she was at the maximum limit allowed for the activity.
“I remember we were going, and I had to pay extra. I was weighed in front of everyone,” Lerch recounted in an interview with the New York Post. “It was the most humiliating thing—I was stressed about it the whole week before because I knew.” That moment of public humiliation ignited her determination to make a permanent change.
A Lifestyle Transformed
Lerch embarked on a journey that would see her lose 88 pounds, bringing her weight down to 152. Her primary method was not a crash diet but a sustainable lifestyle shift centered on intermittent fasting. She adopted an 18:6 fasting schedule, where she fasted for 18 hours a day and had a six-hour window for eating.
This approach, combined with making healthier food choices and increasing her daily activity with walks, allowed her to consistently lose weight without feeling overly restricted.
A Lifelong Struggle
Her success marked the end of a challenge that had followed her for most of her life. Lerch revealed that her struggles with body image and weight began at a very young age. “I remember I had a personal trainer at 10, and just always struggled with my weight,” she said.
After years of failed diets and feeling unhappy with her self-image, the skydiving incident provided the final, powerful motivation she needed to take control of her health in a new and sustainable way.
“Fall in Love with the Journey”
Today, Lerch is sharing her story to inspire others. She emphasizes that her success came from shifting her mindset away from the idea of “dieting” and towards building a healthy life that she genuinely enjoys.
“If I have a message, it’s to make it into a lifestyle and fall in love with the journey,” she advised. “Find things that work for you and what you enjoy.” Her transformation is a powerful testament to finding a personal and positive path to health and self-acceptance.
