Since the 2020 presidential election occurred in November of that year, Donald Trump and his political allies have continued to contend that the election was stolen. Indeed, the former 45th president of the United States has routinely stated that he believes that serious fraud occurred during the race, and that thousands of mail-in ballots were harvested and planted by Democratic operatives to “install” Joe Biden as president and disenfranchise American voters. While a majority of Americans do not believe this claim to be accurate, some 30% allegedly still carry the notion that 2020 was rigged.
While Mr. Trump most certainly has a right to the first amendment protections of freedom of speech, one of the four criminal indictments that he currently faces alleges that he willingly and knowingly lied to the American public, peddling the false narrative while fully aware that it was untrue. While Trump may be a hard individual for politically motivated prosecutors to catch, it appears that one of his closest allies is in serious trouble. Rudy Guiliani, the former mayor of New York City, was indicted in a Georgia racketeering case in relation to the 2020 election. Guiliani was charged (along with Trump and others) in Georgia for attempting to “interfere” with the results of the 2020 election. Additionally, Guiliani faces a civil suit. In this suit, former attorneys allege that they are owed $1.4 million in unpaid legal service fees from Guiliani. Guiliani was recently found liable for defamation against two election workers from Georgia.
The Fulton County Prosecutor Fani Willis has come under fire for a scandalous affair. Fani Willis and a prosecutor named Nathan Wade (both involved in the Trump Georgia Indictment) allegedly have shared a romantic relationship and used public funds to go on private vacations. Willis also appointed Wade to the case despite him having no experience. Willis also met with White House Counsel, creating rumors of political and legal coordination.
