A 2-year-old child died as a consequence of a couple’s negligent actions in Arkansas; they were charged with the crime of murder after abandoning four children in a hot car.
After reportedly leaving their children in the car outside of Arkansas Children’s Hospital on Sunday, Deja (27) and Justin Rollins (29) were already facing child abuse and neglect charges.
Police arrived at the location on word that another youngster, a three-year-old who was not named, had to be sent to the hospital for emergency treatment.
According to the Jacksonville police, the couple reportedly refused to tell them where their four other children, who were aged 2, 4, 7, and 10, were.
When hospital security found the car, they broke in and rescued the children. The youngsters were inside the vehicle in the hospital parking lot.
The youngsters were all taken inside the hospital for treatment of heat exhaustion.
Sadly, 2-year-old Jay’Dien Rollins was declared dead the next day.
As part of their subsequent investigation, Jacksonville authorities also discovered a severely undernourished dog inside their home; they subsequently surrendered the animal to Jacksonville Animal Services.
At a hearing on Tuesday, they pled not guilty to all charges,
The Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility is now housing both Justin and Deja without bond.
