During the July 15 CNN cover of the Republican National Convention (RNC), host John King said that prominent Democrats are persistently attempting to get Joe Biden to withdraw from the presidential campaign.
According to King, there have been reports suggesting that President Biden is being pressured to withdraw from the race despite the fact that popular clamor for him to do so has lessened.
Following Saturday’s horrific attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, the murder of an audience member, and the wounding of two others, the public has mostly muted its cries to eject Biden. In addition, with the Republicans holding their convention, Democrats feel that they have to have a cohesive message.
King said that the Democrats see a public spat with the party leader as unproductive. Biden reiterated in the recent Lester Holt interview that he is not withdrawing from the race. However, certain Democrat lawmakers have kept up their lobbying of the president’s inner circle at the White House to resign. According to King, they’ve made the case that we’re now beyond the point of no return and that President Biden will lose badly enough to destroy the party.
The Democrat National Committee (DNC) is allegedly attempting to speed up the technical nominating procedure to avoid resistance to Biden’s candidacy next month at their convention. Already, Biden has rejected demands that he resign, insisting that he is the most qualified opponent to defeat Trump.
Biden’s camp has resorted to this new plan in response to the deluge of demands that he resign after the disastrous presidential debate.
In this week’s all-staff campaign call, Jen O’Malley Dillon, the chairwoman of Biden’s reelection campaign, admitted that they went through two extremely difficult weeks. They have been “very, very” hard weeks, even before the failed attempt on Trump’s life.
If everything goes according to plan, Biden only needs to withstand demands that he resign for another two weeks.
