The state of international politics at large is poor. The COVID-19 pandemic irrevocably altered the state of economic, cultural and political life in America. While rampant inflation continues to cripple the working class of nations across Europe and the North American continent, the usually anarchial environment of international politics has been reduced to chaos, turmoil and volatility. In the summer of 2021, the United States botched a military withdrawal from the nation of Afghanistan and 13 American servicemembers were killed in the actions and billions of dollars of military supplies resulted from the failure.
Recently, the former presidential candidate Chris Christie made a statement that no aid should be sent to Gaza in their war with Israel. Christie said that America should become militarily involved and support Israel in the conflict. He also claimed that America should arm Taiwan as China takes increasingly hostile actions in the pacific. He briefly discussed the crisis at the southern border and called for it to be addressed. Ultimately, the former Republican candidate for president is largely irrelevant and he appears to be more concerned about foreign affairs than the plight of Americans at home as the economic and social conditions in the country continue to deteriorate.
Christie did not forget to mention Ukraine, either and also called for more aid to the nation. Recently, the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky returned to Washington D.C. asking for yet more funding and aid for Ukraine. He claimed that the conflict was about “freedom” and urged the United States federal government to continue its support for the war effort in Ukraine.
As the war in Ukraine stagnates, politicians remained focus on that conflict as thousands of foreign migrants enter America illegally by the day through the southern border. Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida has pledged to send 1,000 Floridian national guard troops to Texas and the border as the crisis spirals. Ultimately, the future is quite uncertain.
