FBI Investigating Tesla Attacks as Terrorism
Federal authorities are investigating what appears to be coordinated attacks against Tesla facilities across the United States. The most serious incident occurred at a Tesla Collision Center in Las Vegas, where a suspect wearing all black used Molotov cocktails to set multiple vehicles ablaze. And Elon Musk is very clear about the threat it poses to his life.
FBI Special Agent in Charge Spencer Evans confirmed the attack “certainly has some of the hallmarks” of terrorism, though the investigation remains ongoing. Five vehicles were damaged in the Las Vegas attack, with two completely engulfed in flames before firefighters contained the blaze.
Investigators discovered an unignited Molotov cocktail at the scene along with evidence of gunfire. The Las Vegas Fire Department responded to calls about the fires at approximately 2:45 a.m. PDT and managed to extinguish the flames before they reached battery compartments, preventing a potentially more dangerous situation.
Musk Links Violence to Government Efficiency Efforts
Elon Musk expressed shock at the wave of attacks, which he attributes directly to his work with President Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Musk has been leading efforts to cut federal spending and has reportedly identified $2 trillion in potential savings through eliminating waste and fraud.
“It’s really comes as quite a shock to me that there was this level of, really, hatred and violence from the left,” Musk stated. “I always thought the left, the Democrats, were supposed to be the party of empathy, the party of caring and yet they’re burning down cars, they’re firebombing dealerships, they’re firing bullets into dealerships.”
The Tesla CEO suggested coordination behind the attacks, questioning “who’s funding this and who’s coordinating this?” He directly connected the violence to pushback against his government efficiency work, saying “when you take away people’s money that they’re receiving fraudulently, they get very upset.”
Nationwide Pattern of Violence Against Tesla
Beyond the Las Vegas incident, federal authorities are investigating similar attacks in other locations. Two Tesla Cybertrucks were damaged by fire in Kansas City, while a Tesla dealership in San Diego was vandalized with antisemitic symbols and profanity spray-painted on the building and a vehicle.
Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo condemned the Las Vegas attack as “despicable” and promised prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. Attorney General Pam Bondi officially labeled the attacks as “domestic terrorism,” a designation echoed by President Trump, who has shown support for Musk by showcasing Tesla vehicles at the White House.
Musk has expressed alarm over a website called Dogequest that allegedly lists Tesla owners’ personal information, calling it “extreme domestic terrorism.”
