After the British Grand Prix, Lando Norris was conducting a post-race interview, but attentive viewers couldn’t help but notice something strange going on behind him.
At Silverstone last weekend, Norris held the lead for most of the race. But after a questionable pit stop in unpredictable weather, he fell behind eventual record-breaker Lewis Hamilton as he emerged from the pit lane, and then world championship leader Max Verstappen passed him as well.
Despite finishing on the podium, the 24-year-old was noticeably disappointed with the outcome after the race.
That is when viewers spotted Brad Pitt and Damon Idris photo-bombing (from the background) Norris’s somber interview.
The two actors will star in a new film about the sport, appropriately titled F1, which will premiere in 2025.
Scenes from actual Formula One events, including Silverstone this year and last, were filmed using part of the film’s 300 million dollar production budget.
Pitt, 60, was seen by fans strolling behind Norris in a white driver’s jumpsuit, the color of his squad (Apex) in the film.
Idris, 32, was also seen at a later point in Norris’ interview standing behind the Brit.
Not only did Pitt and company linger around the Norris interview, but they also “crashed” Sergio Perez’s interview.
However, many fans couldn’t help but laugh at Fernando Alonso’s response. He gently turned his head as Pitt passed past.
“F1,” produced by Warner Brothers and Apple, will premiere in 2025.
The film, which was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joseph Kosinski (known for “Top Gun: Maverick”), will have a worldwide release on June 25.
Viewed staring down from the pit wall in the colors of his previous team, Guenther Steiner, a former boss of Haas, makes a cameo appearance in the released trailer.
Set in the year 2023, the film recounts the improbable return of fictitious former race car driver Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt) to the circuit with the APX GP team.
Pitt was present at the Formula One drivers’ weekly briefing on Friday and filmed a sequence after qualifying on Saturday to make it look like he was participating in a regular session.
