High School Coach Shot and Killed in Bizarre Bar Attack

Officials in Texas have confirmed that a high school cheer coach was murdered at a conference after being hit by a stray gunshot. After receiving reports of gunfire, San Antonio police arrived at a local bar. The high school coach, who was 28 years old and in town for a conference, was allegedly randomly shot and killed while standing on the rooftop of the bar, according to the police.

Coach Ayden Burt, 28, of the Jasper Independent School District in Texas, was murdered at a rooftop club in San Antonio just after midnight on Tuesday.

The San Antonio Police Department, in a statement, said their Homicide Detectives are working to bring justice to Ayden and her family; however, details are limited.

According to reports, Burt and other coaches from throughout the state were inside the tavern on the 500 block of E. Crockett St. when the shooting happened.

Football coach Robert Murphy of Humble High School wrote on X that one minute, she was seated next to him, smiling and chatting, and the next, she was bleeding on his lap. The other coaches performed CPR and anything else they could think of to try to save her life.

Murphy said she looked forward to the new year with enthusiasm.

Her death was announced on social media by John Seybold, superintendent of the Jasper Independent School District. The incident left Burt in grave condition, and she was quickly sent to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, she was unable to be saved.

There were no other injuries recorded.

Since 2019, Burt worked as an English teacher at Jasper High School and Jasper Junior High. She has also coached cheerleading and volleyball.

Her school asked that everyone pray for the comfort of her family, her extended family, and the Jasper ISD faculty and students. The family and employees have requested that everyone be respectful of their privacy at this difficult time.

If you have any information on this terrible event, the San Antonio Police Department would really appreciate it.
