Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are being evicted from their United Kingdom home.
With the publication of Harry’s book “Spare,” which revealed royal secrets and implicated Queen Camilla as a sneaky plotter bent on ascending to the throne, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were compelled to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage in the United Kingdom.
The 30-room Royal Lodge, located beyond the police cordon defending Windsor Castle and with hefty security needs, was then meant to become the official residence of Prince Andrew – something that King Charles strongly advocated for. Nevertheless, the Duke of York declined, leaving Harry and Meghan’s once-safe house deserted.
British royal expert Afua Hagan said that the government is losing out on rental revenue from Harry and Meghan’s occupancy at Frogmore. Since Harry and Meghan would use the cottage as a place to stay when they visit the UK, she thought it was pointless and petty to battle so hard to remove them only to have it remain empty.
Among the public assets contributing to the United Kingdom government’s coffers is Frogmore, which the Crown Estate controls. The monarchy receives annual public financing equal to a share of such earnings. Prince Harry and Meghan’s rent payments to the Crown Estate would have supported royal programs and public services.
In contrast to Prince Andrew’s present property, which was beyond the police cordon around Windsor Castle, the cottage functioned as more than simply a home for the Sussexes. Harry has been battling to get the 24-hour armed police detail reinstalled ever since the Home Office removed the security following Harry and Meghan’s decision to resign in 2020.
Since Harry’s first two cases against the British government were unsuccessful, he is now relying on the United Kingdom Court of Appeal.
