The couple responsible for the priciest wedding in the world, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant are planning to throw a two-month after-party at an exclusive Slough country club.
The newlyweds, who just had a $300 million wedding in Mumbai, have extended an invitation to the famous and wealthy to visit them at their Berkshire home, Stoke Park, until September. The honeymoon is far from over for the newlyweds; they may look forward to visits from relatives like the Johnsons and Blairs while they enjoy their stay at the luxurious hotel. The location is fewer than seven miles from Windsor Castle, the regular setting for audiences hosted by Prince Harry’s father, King Charles, and rumors have it that Prince Harry is also aiming to make an appearance there.
The private golf club in Stoke Park, a Grade II-listed historic facility, has 850 members. Since Anant’s father, Mukesh Ambani, owns the entire property, the couple shouldn’t have any trouble reserving the venue in advance. However, in the wake of its $73 million acquisition, Ambani sparked outrage among the facility’s 850 members by canceling their subscriptions and closing the venue for major repairs.
The opulent hotel and golf course that served as the setting for the James Bond blockbuster Goldfinger will undergo renovations over the next two years. Despite this, the clubhouse is still off-limits, and very few players have been granted access to play there in the past three years. Some golfers are worried that the Ambani family would use Stoke Park more as a “glorified Airbnb” when they’re in Britain rather than a legitimate golf and country club.
The affluent family, who are also the owners of Hamley’s and were also interested in purchasing Boots, had recently made news for what is widely thought to have been the most extravagant string of wedding celebrations ever, with a total estimated cost of $563 million.
