Donald Trump has faced a backlash after posting artificial intelligence (AI) images on social media showing Taylor Swift fans apparently supporting him. The posts on his Truth Social media account were part of a series of AI-generated pictures, including one showing Kamala Harris speaking to a large crowd in a hall filled with communism symbols.
The images of Taylor Swift included one of the star dressed as Uncle Sam under a caption reading, “Taylor Swift wants you to vote for Donald Trump.” Legal experts say this could spell problems for Mr. Trump.
Additionally, separate pictures showed AI-generated “Swifties” wearing Trump t-shirts under text claiming they support the Republican because of ISIS threats that recently caused the American singer to cancel of some of her European concerts.
A number of the singer’s events were scrapped in the Austrian capital, Vienna, in early August after police arrested a 19-year-old for plotting a terrorist attack at the Ernst Happel Stadium in the city. Vienna State Police Director Franz Ruf and Police Chief Gerhard Pürstl spoke to reporters and said the alleged terrorist had pledged allegiance to ISIS and had possession of detailed plans to attack the Taylor Swift event.
In the UK, where three young girls were stabbed to death at a Taylor Swift dance class, the star’s series of concerts were held under heavy security. Ms. Swift performed at Wembley Stadium in London and invited survivors and families to attend as her guests.
In July, a 17-year-old crashed into a children’s dance class in Southport, northwest England, and stabbed several children, three of whom died while almost a dozen others suffered significant injuries. Sami Foster, whose daughters were attacked at the Switfy dance class, attended the London concert with her children and met the superstar singer backstage. Foster later thanked Swift on Twitter and described the experience as “the most magical night possible.”
Immediately after the horrifying Southport attack, Taylor Swift issued a statement saying, “I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”
The young girls’ deaths sparked weeks of anti-immigration protests and riots across the United Kingdom.
