Woman Arrested for Murder After Remains Found of Missing Man

A woman is facing murder charges after human remains were found while searching for a man who has been missing for more than a month. The speculation is that the bones are of the missing man.

Maureen Rickards, 50, was arrested on Thursday following a troubling discovery at a property in St. Martin’s Road, Canterbury.

Authorities were informed of the disappearance of Jeremy Rickards, 65, on July 5, according to sources, but he had been missing since early June.

Detectives from the Directorate of Serious Crimes in Kent and Essex counties are conducting the inquiry. Police officers will most likely be visible to residents around the clock in the vicinity of St. Martin Road.

Authorities in Kent have informed Jeremy Rickards’s family that they are still trying to establish the identity of the deceased.

Citizens living in the area around St. Martin’s Road should be ready for the presence of law enforcement at all times.

On Wednesday, the authorities publicly demanded to know Jeremy’s whereabouts.

Louise Murphy, an officer on the missing person’s team in East Kent, said that Jeremy’s friends and family haven’t heard from him for weeks and would very much like to hear from him.

The Crown Prosecution Service authorized the murder charge against Maureen Rickards of St Martin’s Road, Canterbury, on Saturday, July 13.

The 50-year-old is obligated to appear before Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 15th.

Though official identification is still pending, 65-year-old Jeremy Rickards is thought to be among the bones. As per the Kent Police, his loved ones have been informed. At this time, the police have not formally confirmed Maureen Rickards’s and Jeremy Rickards’ relationship status.

St. Martins Road residents should brace themselves for an ongoing police presence, according to the Serious Crime Directorate for Kent and Essex. They have not yet concluded their inquiry.
