On Friday, police in Texas discovered the body of a guy that a woman claimed was an abductor. The woman dialed 911 to report that she had shot her captor. The dispatcher said she was distraught and hysterical.
According to the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office, the lady, who is 45 years old and lives in Montgomery, Alabama, contacted 911 at around 12:40 p.m. and said that she had shot someone after being drugged and abducted.
The woman’s location was initially a mystery, but deputies later located her near a vineyard in the 10800 block of East U.S. Highway 290.
According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy saw the car in the outer lane of westbound traffic and discovered what seemed to be a lifeless body in the front seat. The man was identified as Lance Damon Reid, 49, who had been living in the Houston area.
An investigator questioned the woman as she was transferred to a nearby hospital. The sheriff’s office stated that no other details would be shared as the investigation is underway.
The shooter claimed the two were recent acquaintances and were supposed to go on a weekend getaway together when the shooting occurred, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office reported that the woman fully cooperated with detectives at the site and a nearby hospital.
So far, no one has been detained in connection to Reid’s death.
Reid’s dad, Barry, said his son was an engineer who had to get a security clearance and undergo a background check before he could start working for the government in the Houston region. He said the notion of him being a kidnapper is absurd.
Reid’s wife, Kellee, said she knew nothing about another woman in her husband’s life and that he was searching for a new home to purchase because of his new long-term project with the government in Texas.
The Reids hail from California.
