According to a report, the ultimate cancer treatment has now been discovered, and it allegedly eradicates solid tumors without harming healthy tissue.
The novel chemical specifically inhibits the activity of a protein that promotes tumor growth and metastasis in a wide variety of malignancies. This is noteworthy since the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) was formerly considered an “undruggable” protein.
The medicine was shown to be effective against 70 distinct cancer cell lines in the lab. These lines included prostate, brain, breast, ovarian, lung, cervical, and skin cancers.
The report shows the pill results from 20 years of work by scientists at the City of Hope Hospital in Los Angeles, among the leading cancer clinics in the United States.
The next step is to test the findings in larger human samples. A Phase 1 research trial is being conducted at the City of Hope to evaluate the medicine in people.
